Cheesecake and Pie is the latest offering in my bakery series. Ironically, this painting will be shown all day Monday, August 13, at the Island Lake Curves. You could say it is a no-calorie treat for all the exercisers. Actually, this Curves is having an anniversary celebration and my art display is one of the festivities. I am sure Curves would love it if you stopped by.

I found this bakery case in a favorite little luncheon spot. What I like about this painting is the subdued color and combination of flat and textured paint. The trays, pan and bakery case are very traditional -- the bakery goods themselves are ultra-contemporary with thick, glossy paint.
On the Easel
Currently, I am working on a commission for a good friend of mine, who wanted two paintings for her downtown Chicago condo. They pick up elements from her decor and are, of course, very contemporary.
Now On Display
-- This Sunday, Aug. 12, Great Stride Benefit, at Arlington Race Track at the Trackside building on Euclid Ave., from noon to 5 p.m. Toy car paintings.
-- Sweeter by the Dozen at the Caffe Luna in Crystal Lake (in from of Hobby Lobby) through Sept. 30. Mon-Sat from 6 am to 6 pm, Sunday 7 am to 3 pm. Please come to the Artist's Reception on Sat., Sept. 8, from 2 to 4 pm. Bakery paintings.
-- Algonquin Public Art Program, at the Algonquin Public Library, through Sept. This is a year-long display. Car-art tables.
